What Part of "Lion" Did You Not Understand

Spectators cheered as entire Cambodian Midget Fighting League squared off against African Lion

Tickets had been sold-out three weeks before the much anticipated fight, which took place in the city of Kâmpóng Chhnãng.

The fight was slated when an angry fan contested Yang Sihamoni, President of the CMFL, claiming that one lion could defeat his entire league of 42 fighters.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

. . .An African Lion (Panthera Leo) was shipped to centrally located Kâmpóng Chhnãng especially for the event, which took place last Saturday, April 30, 2005 in the city’s coliseum. . . .

Sihamoni was quoted before the fight stating that he felt since his fighters out-numbered the lion 42 to 1, that they “… could out-wit and out-muscle [it].”

Unfortunately, he was wrong
.

Apropos, there is now a classified ad running in Kampong Chhnang's city paper:

This is what can happen when the ego is bigger than the ability...or when the testosterone poisoning kills the rational side (providing there was one) of the brain.

I have to admit, this did make me laugh. A lot.

My god that was funny, yeah it made me laugh too.

It is in bad taste to laugh at the misfortune of others however when the "other" doesn't have the sense of a stray cat it is hard to feel sympathy.

If it helps you laugh guilt-free, the story is totally false. Some guy copied the BBC Web site's page and created that fake news entry. The BBC, as you can imagine, is pissed.

I was sorry to hear it, myself. Me, I like thinking the human race is capable of such lunacy, and actually believe the world is a better place when this kind of crap actually happens.

Since it didn't, the sky is less blue, the food taste less sweet. That's probably just me, though.

I have to agree Biff, I truly think that somewhere, someone is capable of such behavior.

After all, look at the Washington state guys.

By the way, I laughed guilt free. This might be why I so enjoy the Darwin Awards.
